Celebrating The Past And Looking To The Future At The Reno Dentist

General Dentistry Reno

It has now been 150 years since the first dental license was issued to Sir John Tomes. Reno dental patients should be grateful for the advances made in dentistry during the past 150 years.

There was a time when blacksmiths and wig makers would also extract teeth with forceps to make a little extra money. Anyone could call themselves a dentist. Often these untrained people broke the jaws of the person they were trying to help. Ouch!

At The Reno Dentist, we celebrate with the Reno dental community and marvel at the many advances made in the history of dentistry, particularly cosmetic dentistry.

One of the modern treatments that has helped countless Reno patients is invisible braces. This non-visible orthodontic therapy is custom made for each patient. They are transparent and removable and will help you achieve your desired smile in about 3 to 18 months.

I am Dr. Shane Sykes. My training didn’t end when I graduated from dental school and opened my practice in Reno. As a cutting-edge cosmetic dentist, I continually seek training so I can expertly perform the latest procedures. In addition, our practice uses the most advanced dental materials available.

If you are one of the many Reno residents who has dreamed of an esthetic improvement to your smile, we invite you to make an appointment with The Reno Dentist to discuss a smile makeover. Complete smile transformations are completed as quickly and professionally as possible – sometimes in just one visit!

One of our most sought after treatments at The Reno Dentist is cosmetic dentistry and many Reno folks are enjoying a brighter smile because of dental implants.

At The Reno Dentist we have been serving the residents of  zip code area 89503 since 2011 and would love to provide you and your family with professional family dentistry.

Are Dental Implants Worth It For Reno?

Dental Implants Reno A dental implant is a permanent tooth replacement that looks, feels and works like a natural tooth.

The actual dental implant material is usually titanium. A post is surgically inserted into the jaw bone to replace the root of the missing tooth. The post integrates with the bone to provide a stable foundation. The root replacement device can help prevent future jaw bone deterioration that can occur after a tooth has been lost. When the implant has integrated securely with the bone (it can take three to six months), a smaller post is attached. This post extends above the gum line. The artificial tooth (dental crown) is then attached.

The dental implants available in the Reno area are extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of configurations. One dental implant can replace one missing tooth. A series of implants can replace more than one tooth or anchor a dental bridge. Implants can also act as a sturdy base for partial or full dentures.

When calculating the cost of dental implants in Reno, you’ll want to compare them to other restorative options.

Call 775-323-0700 to schedule a visit to discuss your dental goals and the possibility of reasonably priced dental implants. If you are missing one or more teeth, you owe it to yourself to get information on dental implants.

The Gift Of Oral Health In Reno

The Gift Of Oral Health In Sparks

Many dental patients in the Reno area may wonder why, with all the advances in dental medicine, we still send you home with a complimentary toothbrush and roll of floss. It’s true, they do seem a little old-fashioned in our high-tech world, but don’t let their simple design fool you. These tools are the best bet to prevent tooth decay, plaque build-up, and gum disease for Reno general dentistry patients!

When done properly and consistently, brushing and flossing are an essential part of everyday oral hygiene. Brushing, which should be done at least twice a day, can be done effectively with any type of toothbrush. There is no need to pay a bundle for a fancy electric toothbrush from your Reno area Wal-Mart, just brush your teeth in small, circular motions for 2-3 minutes making sure to reach all the surfaces.

Flossing should be done once a day and is important for reaching the areas where a toothbrush cannot. A wide variety of floss can be found at Reno drugstores, so find one you like.

I’m Dr. Shane Sykes, an experienced Reno cosmetic dentist, and I want to help you enjoy your dental visits and adore your smile.

Our knowledgeable staff loves sending our Reno area patients away with a new toothbrush and floss, but we also find it rewarding to see our patients gain renewed confidence with a smile makeover.

We’d love to answer any questions you have about cosmetic dentistry such as tooth whitening, veneers, dental implants, or any other dental health topic.

New Protein For Sparks NV Dental Implant Patients

Carson City Dental Implants Hundreds of Sparks NV dental implant recipients have replaced missing teeth with jaw-bone anchored tooth implants. Unlike a dental bridge, a tooth implant consists of a titanium post inserted into the jaw bone. The bone meshes with the post to create a strong base for the natural-looking prosthetic tooth and crown that attaches to the post.

Dental implants are usually the ideal restoration for Sparks NV people who want to replace a missing tooth. There is a problem, however, if the jaw bone is too thin at the implant site.

When a tooth is extracted, the bone loses the blood circulation at the former site of the root. Consequently, bone recession often occurs. If the recession is extensive, there is not enough bone to hold the dental implant post.

Bone grafting can augment the bone at the implant site and provide the bone density necessary for a successful implant. This is usually effective, but it does require time for the new bone to generate. A new discovery may provide a quicker solution for regenerating bone.

Researchers at the Georgia Health Sciences University College of Dental Medicine have identified a protein that quickly stimulates the production of new bone. The research team, led by Dr. Ulf M.E. Wikesjo, implanted bone morphogenetic protein in test subjects and discovered that “more new bone formed within four weeks than with conventional bone grafting.”

This protein will require extensive testing before it is available for Sparks NV implant dentistry patients. However, I am pleased at the prospect of an additional method for making dental implants possible for my Sparks NV area clients with missing teeth and jaw bone recession.

Artistic Smile Masterpieces At The Reno Dentist

Artistic Smile Masterpieces At The Reno Dentist

Hello Reno area friends of The Reno Dentist! Thanks for stopping by the ultimate general dentistry blog. Today we are talking about personal transformation. Many Reno men and women want to reinvent themselves in at least one aspect of their life.

Some Reno people are training for a new career. Some men and women have made a healthy lifestyle a priority by making better food choices and working out on a regular basis. Some Reno people are dedicating more attention to their personal relationships.

At The Reno Dentist, Dr. Shane Sykes skillfully uses advanced cosmetic dentistry to transform lucky patients with complete smile makeovers.

A comprehensive smile redesign involves more than applying four or six porcelain veneers to the upper front teeth. Though veneers can dramatically improve a smile, a complete smile makeover is a total smile transformation.

Dr. Sykes evaluates the condition, size, shape, alignment, and color of the teeth. These elements are created, meticulously refined, and integrated in perfect harmony. The procedures Dr. Sykes adeptly uses are dental crowns and bridges, laser dentistry, clear braces, teeth whitening, and dental implants.

Like any artistic masterpiece, a perfect smile is far more than the sum of its parts.

If you have a vision for your smile, it can become a reality at The Reno Dentist. Schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation today by calling 775-323-0700 or visiting https://therenodentist.com/about/our-office/.

Reno Cosmetic Dental Artistry

Reno Cosmetic Dental Artistry Reno cosmetic dentistry is part science and part art.

I’m Dr. Shane Sykes of The Reno Dentist and I enjoy using my extensive dental training and specialized artistic skills to design treatment plans unique to each of my Reno cosmetic dental clients.

In order to achieve an attractive, yet natural looking result, I do much more than recommend specific procedures. I consider the shape, alignment, color and condition of the teeth. In order to create a balanced look, the facial shape and coloring is taken into account. The Reno general dentistry client’s age, health condition and lifestyle all influence the plan.

At The Reno Dentist, there is no one size fits all treatment plan.

My artistic abilities have been perfected over several years of creating smile transformations for my Reno cosmetic dentistry clients. I am constantly receiving the latest training in new techniques and materials.

Even fairly recent cosmetic dental procedures such as teeth whitening and porcelain veneers have advanced considerably. Dental implants are a truly remarkable solution for our Reno dental clients who have lost one or more teeth.

I would love to design a personalized smile makeover for you. When the work has been completed and you are enjoying your new look, it will only be obvious to those who see you all the time. Others will assume you have always been blessed with a naturally beautiful and healthy smile.
