Tooth Whitening Dentistry In Reno

Teeth Whitening Reno

Teeth whitening has really taken off in Reno. It has become a popular dental procedure and can provide excellent results if done properly.

There are a lot of options when it comes to tooth whitening. You can choose from a selection of over-the-counter options that you can get at your local pharmacy, or can go to a professional to get a complete tooth bleaching solution.

It is a good idea to consult with your family dentist before a tooth whitening, regardless of whether you choose to use an over-the-counter product. Your dentist will be able to help you understand the results you can expect, and can help recommend a product that will work for you.

There are many variables when it comes to tooth whitening. The color of your teeth at the beginning of your treatment will make a difference for your ending result. Different tooth whitening treatments will each produce a different result. Your Reno cosmetic dentist has experience with tooth coloration and the types of treatments available.

In many cases, your Reno dentist will be able to provide you with a tooth whitening solution that you can take home with you. In some cases, your Reno dentist may recommend a professional treatment that is done at the dentist’s office.

Professional tooth whitening can produce dramatic results in a single treatment, and is often done over a few treatments.

Tooth whitening is less expensive than it was in the earlier days of tooth whitening technology. Today, tooth whitening treatments are very affordable, and don’t take the time they used to.

If you are interested in a teeth whitening consultation in the Reno area, please call The Reno Dentist and make an appointment to see me. I will be happy to give you a check up, assess your tooth color, and recommend tooth whitening treatments that may be right for you.

Dental Sealants – Another Tool For Cavity Prevention In Sparks NV

Family Dentistry Sparks NV

General dentistry patients in the Sparks NV area know that regular brushing and flossing are essential for optimal oral health. However, the bristles of your toothbrush can’t reach into every small groove and depression in your teeth, especially the really bumpy back teeth. That’s where sealants can be invaluable.

Dental sealants are a plastic material that is applied by your Sparks NV dentist. This material is a resin that bonds to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, mainly in the pits and fissures. The plastic acts as a shield against acids and plaque so that the tooth enamel is protected.

Many Sparks NV residents might think that sealants are only for children and teenagers, but they can actually be beneficial for adults as well. If you are wondering if sealants are right for you, speak with your Sparks NV family dentist. This simple dental procedure can dramatically improve your oral health by protecting the surfaces that are particularly vulnerable to decay.

Many Sparks NV dental insurance providers include dental sealants as a covered benefit, so check with your provider if you are considering them. If you don’t have dental insurance, ask us about financing options. Because they can prevent cavities, dental sealants can save you money in the long run.

I’m Dr. Shane Sykes, a general and cosmetic dentist and I want to thank you for visiting my dental blog. At our office we serve the Sparks area by offering:

Same Day Smile Makeovers At The Reno Dentist

Cosmetic Dentistry Reno Have you ever wished your Reno cosmetic dentist could glue new pearly white covers on your existing teeth as easy as you paint a wall in your house? Guess what? With porcelain veneers, it’s possible. Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin tooth-shaped fronts that are permanently bonded to your natural teeth.

Unlike a dental crown procedure, your Reno dentist does not need to remove tooth structure to place the restoration. If the teeth in question have decay, come see us immediately.

Call 775-323-0700 to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

At The Reno Dentist in Reno, veneers are used alone and in combination with other cosmetic dental procedures to create complete smile makeovers. Because they can correct cosmetic tooth misalignment in one visit, porcelain veneers are sometimes referred to as ‘instant orthodontics’.

Do veneers look like natural teeth?
Skilled Reno cosmetic dental lab artists create porcelain veneers with the color, reflective properties, and translucency of natural teeth: perfect natural teeth, that is. In addition, porcelain veneers can be made in any size or shape.

Are veneers at The Reno Dentist
strong?
Porcelain veneers are fabricated out of extremely durable material. If you have questions about whether a veneer or dental crown is the best choice for you, talk to Dr. Shane Sykes. Dr. Sykes will consider the size and condition of the tooth and its position in the mouth.

How long do veneers last?
Some smile makeover clients have veneers they received over 15 years ago. (And they still look terrific!) If properly cared for, veneers can last as long as dental crowns.

Are porcelain veneers affordable in Reno
?
The cost of cosmetic dental veneers at The Reno Dentist is competitive with other premium cosmetic and restorative dentistry practices in the Reno area. We use what we believe is the top dental lab in the state to create our client’s veneers and a significant portion of the cost of veneers goes to the lab. Porcelain veneers are often less expensive in Reno than crowns and orthodontia. For questions about the cost of porcelain veneers, call our office at 775-323-0700.

The Gift Of Oral Health In Reno

The Gift Of Oral Health In Sparks

Many dental patients in the Reno area may wonder why, with all the advances in dental medicine, we still send you home with a complimentary toothbrush and roll of floss. It’s true, they do seem a little old-fashioned in our high-tech world, but don’t let their simple design fool you. These tools are the best bet to prevent tooth decay, plaque build-up, and gum disease for Reno general dentistry patients!

When done properly and consistently, brushing and flossing are an essential part of everyday oral hygiene. Brushing, which should be done at least twice a day, can be done effectively with any type of toothbrush. There is no need to pay a bundle for a fancy electric toothbrush from your Reno area Wal-Mart, just brush your teeth in small, circular motions for 2-3 minutes making sure to reach all the surfaces.

Flossing should be done once a day and is important for reaching the areas where a toothbrush cannot. A wide variety of floss can be found at Reno drugstores, so find one you like.

I’m Dr. Shane Sykes, an experienced Reno cosmetic dentist, and I want to help you enjoy your dental visits and adore your smile.

Our knowledgeable staff loves sending our Reno area patients away with a new toothbrush and floss, but we also find it rewarding to see our patients gain renewed confidence with a smile makeover.

We’d love to answer any questions you have about cosmetic dentistry such as tooth whitening, veneers, dental implants, or any other dental health topic.

Help Me Reno; I’m Afraid Of The Dentist!

Sparks Sleep Dentistry If you are afraid of your Reno cosmetic dentist, you are not alone. At The Reno Dentist, we encounter many nervous first-time dental patients. How do we calm their fears, provide a comfortable dental environment and earn lifelong clients?

1) We carefully explain the findings of the initial dental examination and thoroughly outline any recommended procedures. The consultation also includes a discussion about pain control medications. This allows our Reno general dentistry clients to make informed decisions about their oral health and necessary dental procedures.

2) Dr. Shane Sykes practices gentle, pain-free dentistry. Reno cosmetic or restorative dentistry treatment will not begin until you are numb. Keep in mind, however, that every dentistry patient reacts to numbing agents differently.

Speak up quickly if you start to feel discomfort. We will pause treatment, administer additional analgesic and wait until it takes effect. At The Reno Dentist, we never rush cosmetic dental or restorative procedures.

We will do our best to make you comfortable, whether you are receiving dental veneers, undergoing crown-lengthening treatment, having your teeth whitened, or replacing your old silver fillings.

3) We provide many in-office amenities at The Reno Dentist which help our dental patients focus on something pleasant during cosmetic dental treatment. Sometimes chemical-free diversions such as listening to your favorite music provide a diversion while letting you remain clear-headed.

At The Reno Dentist, we understand dental anxiety and will help you overcome it. We are located at 855 W Seventh St Ste 200 in Reno, 89503.

Sparks NV Dental News: What To Expect After Wisdom Teeth Removal

For the 65 percent of Sparks NV adults who develop wisdom teeth in their late teens or early twenties, The Reno Dentist generally recommends removal. Wisdom teeth can damage adjacent teeth, nerves and, due to their awkward positioning, can increase risk of tooth decay and gum disease. They often come in crooked, crowding the other teeth and affecting the bite.

Wisdom teeth are also difficult to clean, especially if they do not fully erupt, which is a common problem for most Sparks NV teens and young adults who discover them. This can cause infection, as bacteria can be trapped under the skin where brushing and flossing is difficult.

After removal, Dr. Shane Sykes recommends Sparks NV wisdom teeth removal patients carefully follow the instructions given.

Bleeding is inevitable and should be expected to last up to three days. Rinsing is counter-productive, but firm pressure should be applied by biting down on the gauze pads to help stop the bleeding.

Swelling following wisdom teeth extraction is a sign that the healing process is progressing normally. Swelling that recedes and then re-appears after a few weeks, however, is a sign of infection and should be treated immediately.

Cosmetic dentist Dr. Shane Sykes recommends an examination seven to ten days after the extraction to make sure the wounds are clean and there are no complications. An anti-biotic wash can be applied if infection is present.

Keep in mind that many complications can be avoided if the Sparks NV patient has his or her wisdom teeth removed at an earlier age.

To schedule a dental exam or a wisdom teeth consultation, contact our Sparks NV family dentistry practice today.  We also offer laser and restorative dentistry services.
