What Are Dental Veneers?
A veneer is a wafer-thin, customized cover of tooth-colored materials created to shield the front surface of your teeth to enhance your appearance. While also offering solidity and resilience similar to natural tooth enamel. Dental veneers are porcelain-made or sometimes made of resin composite materials. They are tailored to the shape of your teeth and bonded to your actual tooth enamel during your in-office procedures.
How Do Veneers Work?
It is always better to know everything before you get your dental veneers. Cosmetic dentists use dental veneers to wrap up many cosmetic flaws in your teeth. A dental veneer can fill narrow gaps between your teeth, conceal permanent stains and hide injured teeth. They can also enhance the look of your crooked teeth that stays healthy without the need for any orthodontic treatment.
What A Patient Should Know Before Getting Your Dental Veneers-
1. Expect The Dentist To Extract A Thin Layer Of Enamel Before Putting The Dental Veneer
One of the goals of fixing a tooth with a veneer is to create a beautiful smile. That means that the restored tooth must have identical or symmetrical proportions to the rest of your teeth. To adjust the added thickness of the veneer, the dentist will extract a thin layer of your tooth enamel, about as thick as a hair. That said, some dental veneers are a little thicker and need a dentist to remove a little more enamel.
2. Three Dentist Visits Extended For Over A Few Weeks.
Most dentists order customized veneers from dental labs. The labs use an impression of the patient’s teeth to manufacture your dental veneer. This procedure takes time, and the dentist will send the patient home with a temporary dental veneer. Once the dentist gets the veneer in-office from the lab- it is time for another appointment to get permanent dental veneers in Reno.
3. Process Involved Are brief & Pain-free
A dentist will administer a local anesthetic before each procedure begins. In, case of tooth decay, the patients’ mouth will be numb as the dentist extracts decayed tissue. The patient will feel nothing as the dentist removes a thin enamel layer from each target tooth. If needed, the dentist will give an anesthetic before they fit, adjust and file down the dental veneer.
4. Veneers Last Decades, Rely On The Sort Of Veneer, & Your Oral Habits.
A composite veneer can last up to 10 years with proper care & even maybe longer. Porcelain veneers last between 10 – 15 years. Pressed porcelain veneers can even last decades. Suitable oral habits create the contrast between dental veneers that wear down in 5 years and one that stays for 15 years.
5. Different Types Of Veneers – Different Benefits
Porcelain veneers look better than composite veneers. They are also strong, long-lasting, and more invulnerable to stains. That also means they cost more and need a patient with tolerance to sit through multiple procedures. In contrast, composite veneers are more affordable to preserve and replace. They are also easier & more manageable to install.
