$300 Whitening for a Cause

In June 2024, I made the difficult decision to step away from full-time practice in Reno to pursue my MBA and spend intentional time with my family. This 18-month sabbatical was not a “sundown” on my career, but a period of intensive reflection that allowed me to return with a
higher level of expertise and a renewed commitment to my patients.
One of the most frequent questions I get from fellow business owners in the Truckee Meadows is: “How did you step away without the business crumbling?”
The Architecture of Leadership Just as I believe in “Clinical Architecture” for your teeth, I believe in the architecture of leadership. Stepping away required me to ensure that The Reno Dentist was built on a solid foundation of team, technology, and trust.
- Trust Your Team: I felt confident that the legacy of high-quality care would continue through our excellent team of doctors and staff, including Dr. Jordan.
- Invest in Systems: Utilizing world-class technology like CEREC and SprintRay allowed our practice to maintain efficiency even during my transition.
- Define the Vision: By leaning into my sabbatical, I was able to define our “One-StopShop” mission, ensuring that we serve the busy lives of Northern Nevada professionals more effectively than ever before.
The Result: A Renewed Commitment
My sabbatical taught me that “worth is not a prize you can win or lose”. I returned to Reno fulltime in January 2026 not because I had to, but because I have a “Visionary Leadership” mission to evolve our practice.
If you are a professional feeling the weight of the “daily grind,” I encourage you to look at the architecture of your own life. Sometimes, leaning out for a season is the only way to truly lean in later.
