Got Questions? We've Got Answers.
We believe that informed patients are confident patients. Whether you're visiting us for the first time or you've been part of our family for years, it's completely natural to have questions about your care, your options, and what to expect.
Below you'll find answers to the questions we hear most often, from insurance and scheduling to specific treatments we offer. We've answered the most common questions below. If you don't see what you're looking for, give us a call at (775) 323-0700 — we're happy to help.
What insurances do you take?
We work with most major dental insurance plans and are happy to help you maximize your benefits. We recommend calling our office at (775) 323-0700 to verify your specific plan before your visit. Our team will work with your insurance to get the most out of your coverage.
Don't have insurance? Ask us about our in-house membership options and flexible payment arrangements.
How do I schedule or cancel an appointment?
You can request an appointment online through our website or call us directly at (775) 323-0700. Our office hours are Mon - Thurs: 8:30am - 6:00pm. We're closed on Friday and weekends.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours' notice so we can offer your time to another patient in need. We appreciate your courtesy!
What's included in a comprehensive exam?
- Full set of X-rays (including bite-wings and a panoramic image)
- Oral cancer screening
- Gum and periodontal health assessment
- Evaluation of bite, jaw, and TMJ
- Review of existing restorations (fillings, crowns, etc.)
- Personalized treatment planning discussion
What's included in a problem-focused exam?
A problem-focused exam is a targeted evaluation of a specific area of concern — such as tooth pain, a broken tooth, or a sore spot. Rather than a full-mouth review, our doctor will concentrate on diagnosing and addressing that particular issue as efficiently as possible.
This type of exam may include a limited X-ray and a focused clinical assessment, followed by a recommendation for treatment. It's ideal for urgent concerns between regular checkups.
What options are available for fearful patients?
Do you do All-On-4 and hybrid dentures?
Yes! We offer implant-supported full-arch solutions including All-On-4 and hybrid dentures for patients who are missing most or all of their teeth. These options provide a stable, natural-looking result that doesn't rely on messy adhesives or removable partials.
During a consultation, we'll evaluate your bone structure, gum health, and overall goals to determine the best fit for your situation. Call us to schedule a conversation with our doctors.
Do you do braces?
We offer Invisalign clear aligner therapy as a certified Invisalign provider — a popular and discreet alternative to traditional metal braces. Invisalign uses a series of custom, removable trays to gradually straighten your teeth without wires or brackets.
If your case requires traditional orthodontic braces, we can provide a referral to a trusted local orthodontist. Book a consultation with us and we'll walk you through what option is best for your smile goals.
Do you treat children and families?
Absolutely — we love seeing the whole family! Our office is welcoming to patients of all ages, from young children getting their first checkup to adults and seniors. We offer general, preventive, and restorative care for every stage of life.
Parents often bring their kids along for their own appointments so the whole family can be seen in one visit. Dr. Sykes and our team are known for making children feel at ease and even enjoy coming to the dentist.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
If you're experiencing a dental emergency — such as a knocked-out tooth, severe pain, broken restoration, or swelling — please call our office right away at (775) 323-0700. We make every effort to see emergency patients as soon as possible, often the same day.
For after-hours emergencies, please leave a message and we'll return your call promptly. In cases of serious facial trauma or difficulty breathing, please go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
