Missing a Tooth? Cosmetic Dentistry in Reno

Have you lost teeth? Missing teeth are more than a cosmetic problem; they can pose a long-term threat to your overall health. If you’ve lost any teeth, don’t despair: cosmetic dentistry can provide a permanent, and nearly perfect, solution.

Dental Implants
Dental implants not only restore your smile; they can save the integrity of your jaw. When you lose a tooth, bone loss is inevitable because the tooth’s root is no longer there to stimulate and stabilize the jaw bone. An implant is a titanium post that is attached to the jaw. It bonds to the bone and provides the same benefit as the natural root.

There are three parts to a dental implant: the artificial root, the connecting abutment, and the final crown or denture. An implant is often the optimal restoration as it offers beauty, strength, natural function, and protection from bone recession that often take places at the site of a missing tooth.

Dental Veneers
If you aren’t missing any teeth, but are not comfortable with them, porcelain veneers might be your answer. They offer an economical approach to cosmetic issues like uneven color, size, or shape. They are very thin shells bonded to the front of the teeth. They upgrade unsightly, but structurally sound teeth.
